  • One of those smiles you just cannot wipe off your face

That's one long fabulous list of benefits!

Do you need to reduce your risk of heart disease or stroke and lose weight? Learning how to eat properly will increase your energy level and improve your overall health. Who doesn't want to be healthy? Really, It's like saying who doesn't want to be happy? At Licious Living we are very into healthy. And Happy. Happy, happy, happy.

This meal plan closely mirrors the traditional North American diet we're all used to, but the food is prepared in a healthier manner. Cool. Total fat and sodium intake is significantly reduced, however, our gourmet chefs make sure you can't taste the difference.

The Healthy Living menu is originally designed for people like you, me and that guy in the orange sweater who want to lead a generally healthier lifestyle and fight heart disease. But just like the invention of the wheel had like a million other fans, this program is great for other folks too. Like health-conscious people who are too busy to cook, or people recovering from illness or hospitalization who need to rebuild their mojo, strength and immune systems, or even for independent-living elderly people who find it difficult to get out to shop for fresh food and prepare it daily. It's just as much about the healthy as it is about the living.

With today's crazy busy lifestyles, who has time for the specialized grocery shopping and time consuming meal preparation? That is where Licious Living flies in to save the day as your shopping service, nutritionist and personal chef all in one. We can even wear a cape if you like.

Paying attention to the F-word (Fat intake - not the other f-word, silly) is the most important part of the Healthy Living process. First you limit the total amount of fat, especially saturated fat, that you eat. Saturated fat: baaaaad. Then you emphasize healthier fats that you eat. Healthier fats: gooooood. A Healthy Living diet doesn't mean depriving yourself of the nutrients, taste or smoooooooth texture that fats add to food, it only means making the right food choices. Fab-u-lous. Because depriving is such an unfriendly word.

And it's not just about the F-word (Fat - not the other f-word...again), it's about a varied and balanced eating style to support overall health and well-being.

Inspiration for the Healthy Living Licious Delivery service came from the continuing scientific information that clearly links the importance of diet with the development of arteriosclerosis, (that's the fancy scientist word for hardening of the arteries), which is the most common cause of heart disease and stroke. The research paints quite a picture, you'd better sit down for this:

  • The level of blood fats, i.e. cholesterol, is too high in the majority of Canadian adults. (oh oh)
  • The Lipid Research Clinic's Study (1984) showed that every 1% reduction in cholesterol levels results in a 2% reduction in the incidence of coronary artery disease. (that's some good ROI!)
  • The Helinski Heart Study (1987) showed that an 8% reduction in total cholesterol levels reduced all coronary artery disease complications by 34%. (I'd like those odds in Vegas baby)
  • Research proves that dietary changes can not only improve our quality of life, but can actually save lives. (Let's get savin, good people).

But here's the thing...we're creatures of habit and diet is one of the most difficult things to change. Change is hard. That's where we come in with our liciously satisfying solution.
