THE IMPORTANCE OF DRINKING WATER

The average adult body is made up of 55 to 75% water, which means it figures heavily in how our bodies function. Water makes up the majority of every one of our cells. Every system in your body relies on an adequate supply of water. As the carrier of food and oxygen to the cells, it is the biggest part of our blood and lymph systems. It also carries away invaders and waste.

Functions of Water:

  • Flushes our kidneys to get rid of toxic substances
  • Balances our electrolytes, which help control our blood pressure
  • Regulates our body temperature
  • Acts as a shock absorber to cushion our body's organs
  • Provides many of the trace minerals our bodies need, such as manganese, magnesium, cobalt, and copper

Benefits of Drinking Water:

  • Helps maintain blood volume, which maintains energy
  • Proper hydration improves concentration and reaction time, especially during exercise
  • Helps skin and muscle tone and improves the skin's appearance
  • Increases the number of calories burned during regular daily activities
  • Helps the body metabolize stored fat. Studies have shown that a decrease in water intake causes fat deposits to increase, therefore, increasing water input reduces fat
  • Can help reduce the risk of serious ailments including breast cancer, colon cancer, urinary tract cancer, kidney stones and colds

Water is an essential nutrient. Drinking enough water can greatly improve your overall health and body function.

We strongly recommend that you consume a minimum of 8 full glasses (2 liters) of clean, fresh water per day. Add one glass per hour for every hour of exercise you do and never let yourself become dehydrated!

Studies recommend that if you are overweight, you should add one glass of water to your daily requirement (eight glasses) for every 25 pounds over your recommended weight.
